Just the other day, I was out in the yard playing with Jacy. Having a good time, trying to teach her how to ride her tricycle. After hours of this I insisted that she was ready to try it without the training wheels, finally she gave in. After a few bumps and bruises she got the hang of it and did just fine. “Let’s go in and eat” I said to her because I knew Meagan would have dinner ready. She went inside, and got cleaned up. As she came out for dinner, she reminded me that her Fiancée was coming over for dinner on Friday night. I told her I remembered. As I began to picture what our family was about to become, with My daughter getting married, and starting her own family….
I woke up from my nightmare to find my precious little girl, still 3 months old! But it has definitely been a fast 3 months! I began thinking about all the time I spend watching tv (football) I began thinking about all the time I spend when I’m with her, and all the time I spend when I’m not.. In our busy world today, as children, parents, grandparents, great grandparents, and so on, we must ask ourselves, “Are we making the best use of our time?”
Ephesians 5:15-16- ” Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil.”
Children, you will only be this age ONCE! Make the most of it! You will never be able to influence young people your age for the good, better than you can right now!
Parents, time flies! Life is short! We only have our precious children in our homes for a short time! Are we making the BEST use of our time? To answer this question, ask yourself this one… Do the words in Deut 6:6-9 describe my relationship with my children?
“And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates. ”
